About Access Benefits Group and Maria Poroy
After a career in the Fortune 500, Maria started an employee benefits consulting practice and insurance brokerage under the name Access Benefits Group. Her practice gained national attention due to her consumer advocacy and support of complementary medicine. Since 1989 she served as a representative of health insurance on the Sustainable San Francisco taskforce, put together special programs for the San Francisco Chamber, served the American Red Cross Bay Area as a board member/ and advised them on a range of Human Resource issues such as domestic partner health coverage on the national level. She has been interviewed by 20/20 and USA Today. She has published and given workshops on topics as varied as benefits in non- profit organizations, employee benefits on a shoestring and pets in the workplace. In 2005 she edited Suzie Orman’s materials on health insurance.In 2007, Maria sold her employee benefits practice and settled full time in Pacific Grove. She now works with individuals to navigate health care issues and writes a monthly column for the PG Bulletin. With all her credentials, experience and MBA she still says that the only thing that counts is getting the results for her clients. She understands how to work with the system and get you the best health insurance coverage for your family or small business. She particularly enjoys her work helping seniors with Medicare.
